Pictures and Prayers from Nicaragua: February 2014

Pictures and Prayers from Nicaragua
Dear Family and Friends,

Below are the latest "Pictures and Prayers from Nicaragua".

Thank you once again for being a part of our story through your prayers, encouragement, and financial support.  We are so thankful to have your company on this journey.

Peace and love to you,
Dan (Lisa, Rebekah, and Will) Van Zoest

The picture from my last post (below) was taken at the Cerro Negro Volcano in Nicaragua. I went on a field trip with the 7th and 8th grade classes to experience some hands on Earth Science as we explored the most active (10 eruptions in the past 65 years) volcano in Nicaragua. We all climbed to the top and then either ran down or rode a sled down.

God's creation is amazing!

I really like this picture...I had to ask myself if this NCA student landed on the moon? Find out more in my post above...

Thank you for your prayers for Lisa's Dad! He left the hospital yesterday and is recovering well at Lisa's sister's house in Texas. They will stay in Texas until he feels well enough to travel back home to Iowa.

Please pray for Lisa's Dad. He had a small heart attack yesterday. He made it to the hospital and had emergency surgery to put a stent in. He is currently recovering in ICU.

These are pictures from when Lisa's parents visited us in Nicaragua earlier this month.

Christmas in January. Christmas cards take a long time to arrive in Nicaragua; so one of our family's annual traditions is opening all of our Christmas cards when they arrive in January. Thank you so much to everyone who sent us a card this year! We enjoyed hearing what many of you were up to over the past year and we like hanging up the many family pictures that we receive.

The Love and Logic parenting workshop went very well on Saturday. About 60 parents gathered to hear Mark Forstrom share more about the Love and Logic principles. We had a lot of great group interaction as we all began thinking through how to apply these principles in our families. I am thankful that God answered our prayers by giving us an opportunity to learn more about parenting our children and teaching the many NCA students that we spend time with.
