NCA International: 30 Hour Famine

NCA International:  30 Hour Famine

Dear Family and Friends,

This weekend Rebekah and I (Dan) participated in a 30 hour fast called the "30 Hour Famine" at NCA International.

We went from 1 pm on Friday until 7pm on Saturday without food with 80 other 7th through 12th grade students at NCA.  Since Will was not old enough to participate at NCA, he and Lisa completed the 30 hour fast at home.

The purposes of the fast were to:
  1. Raise awareness and money for starving people
  2. Rely on God
  3. Grow in the compassion of Christ
We had four speakers share with the kids through out the 30 hours.  We also had times of prayer, reflection, games, working, and sleep.  All of the students and leaders stayed on NCA's International campus and so we spent the night in various classrooms.

Rebekah was a part of a team that painted NCA's new logo and school verse on a wall near the front of the school.

Psalm 119:105 - Your word is a lamp to my feet and a light for my path.

Other groups of students worked on a number of additional work project on campus.  This is a group of students repairing a road at NCA that washed out during the rainy season exposing large rocks and creating large pot holes.

After we completed the 30 hour fast we all enjoyed a meal together with the families of many of the students who had participated.

Rebekah and I enjoyed the weekend very much!

Please continue to pray for NCA International as we desire to train up servant leaders in the country of Nicaragua.

Peace and love to you,

Dan (Lisa, Rebekah, and Will) Van Zoest
