Pictures and Prayers from Nicaragua: November 2013

Pictures and Prayers from Nicaragua

Dear Family and Friends,

Each month or two I (Dan) would like to send you an update called "Pictures and Prayers from Nicaragua".  This update will include some pictures of our experiences in Nicaragua along with prayer requests.  These updates will also be posted to a Facebook group.  Please let me know if you would like me to add you to to this group so that you receive them in your newsfeed.  Lisa will continue writing our family's "Nica Updates".

Thank you once again for being a part of our story through your prayers, encouragement, and financial support.  We are so thankful to have your company on this journey.

Peace and love to you,

Dan (Lisa, Rebekah, and Will) Van Zoest

This past weekend we enjoyed time with Steve, Justin, Tab and Andrea who came to visit us from River Rock Church in Rockford, MI. We were able to visit all three of NCA's schools including a six hour round trip to visit NCA's newest school in Matagalpa, Nicaragua. It was a great time of sharing and fellowship for our family. This is a picture of our visit to the volcano in Masaya, the white clouds in the background are the smoke coming out of the top of the volcano.

The Nicaraguan department of health came to school today to fumigate for mosquitoes. There have been a lot of cases of dengue fever reported in Nicaragua over the past several weeks. This is a picture of two of the workers who fumigated NCA and the machines they use to spray the fumigation fog. Please pray for the health and protection of the students at all three of NCA's schools.

I went on a field trip with the 11th grade class today. We visited several places in Granada, including this cemetery where six Nicaraguan presidents are buried.

I took this picture after going for a walk in our neighborhood.

"Instead of looking at the fashions, walk out into the fields and look at the wildflowers. They never primp or shop, but have you ever seen color and design quite like it? The ten best-dressed men and women in the country look shabby alongside them." -Eugene Peterson, The Message

I enjoyed breakfast with a "band of brothers" this morning. We were able to share and pray together.

Just like these bricks are cemented together to form something bigger than they could ever be by themselves, I was reminded of how important it is for me to rely on and be in community with other men of God.
